Frequently Asked Questions
What is an LPC-A?
A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is different from a licensed professional counselor associate (LPC-A).
The main difference between the two is that an LPC practices independently without supervision. They have completed a master’s degree, state requirements and 3,000 hours of supervision.
An LPC-A (which is what I am) must practice under the supervision of an LICENSED professional counselor SUPERVISOR (LPC-S). I have completed a master’s degree and state requirements. I am currently in the process of ACQUIRING my 3,000 hours of supervision under Cynthia Netting LPC-S.
Currently, I work with Mallory Beckwith in her private practice as an associate. More information about my supervisor Cynthia Netting and and my position with Mallory Beckwith can be found below.

What happens in the free 15-minute consultation call?
After scheduling your FREE 15-minute phone consultation, I will contact you at the agreed-upon time via video call. If you’re unable to access the online video chat portal, phone calls are also available.
During our conversation, we’ll discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and the type of care you’re looking for. I’ll share a bit about myself, explain how I can support you, and answer any questions you may have.
This brief consultation is a great opportunity for me to provide more information about the therapeutic process, determine if we’re a good fit, and schedule your first therapy session.

What can I expect in our first session?
In our initial session, we’ll take the time to get to know each other and review the informed consent paperwork together. I’ll explain the details of the paperwork and clearly outline confidentiality to ensure you feel comfortable and informed.
We’ll collaborate to identify the areas you want to focus on and develop a tailored list of treatment goals that align with your needs. Remember, this session is yours—my role is to understand you, offer guidance, and serve as a supportive sounding board.
By the end of our first meeting, we will have crafted a clear roadmap for your treatment journey and set expectations for the sessions ahead.
How often will I attend therapy?
Weekly visits for the first 3 months is highly recommended and can be reassessed at that time.
Some clients with more complex or severe symptoms may benefit from a higher frequency.
I would like to help you make progress in your goals, and a reduced frequency from the start is an unfortunate way to reduce the likelihood of progress and success in counseling.
